Daniel Chapter 1
What is in a name| Daniel - means "GOD is my judge" | Belteshazzar - means "Bel protect his life" |
| Hananiah - means "JEHOVAH has been gracious" | Shadrach - means "command of Aku" |
| Mishael -- means "Who is He that is GOD" | Meschach -- means "Who is what Aku is" |
| Azariah -- means "The LORD helps" | Abed-nego -- means "servant of Nebo" |
Can it be that Daniel and his friends
had devout parents?
Their names seem to indicate a GOD centric view.
Verse 6 tells us that they are "Sons of Judah" the royal tribe.
By changing their names, they were
also changing their language. They were being taught the literature of the Babylonians,
so they had no access to their hebrew writings.
